5. You and the other Parent make the decisions
In court proceedings, the court is very likely to order a Cafcass or Social Worker report.

A report may cast both or one parent less favourably. Such reports have the unintended consequence of being a source of further dispute and polarisation, instead of focusing on collaborative solutions and common ground finding.
Separated or divorced parents may also wish to spare their children the experience of a reporting officer, asking them questions or playing games designed to try to find out their wishes and feelings.
In addition, where parents cannot agree, after several interim hearings, and probably a one to two final hearing, a judge will make a child arrangements order based on the statutory checklist and having regard to the reporting officers report and evidence before it.
